Rules And Regulation

I. Goals.
The goals of Rays Flying Club are to provide safe and reasonably priced aircraft rental to selected pilots & members.

II. Aircraft Checkout.
Members are required to pay an initiation fee, complete and sign required documents and obtain a checkout in each specific aircraft the member wants to use.

III. Aircraft Checkout at Big Bear & Catalina Airports.
All pilots must be checked out for the Big Bear & Catalina airports. Checkouts will be kept on file.

IV. Piloting Aircraft.
Non-members are not permitted to pilot club aircraft. Landings on unpaved runways or off-airport areas are not permitted. Smoking is not permitted in any aircraft. Rentals are not allowed to be flown outside of the contiguous United States.

V. Currency Requirements.
Each pilot must fly at least 1.0 hours in a club aircraft each 90 days; student pilots 60 days. If time elapsed, a pilot must take another flight checkout. A pilot must meet all currency requirements as per FAR’s.

VI. Scheduling.
Reservations are scheduled through our reservation message system, (714) 994-4599 or (562) 944-4399. Aircraft scheduled will be held for 30 minutes unless notification of the delay is received. Cancellations should be made at Least 24 Hours in advance. Failure to cancel will result in charges as follows: aircraft scheduled for the entire day are charged a daily minimum of 2.5 hours per day for weekends, holidays and 2 hour per day for weekdays (airplanes scheduled for 4 hours or more are considered an entire day); aircraft scheduled less than 4 hours will be charged 1 hour flight time.

VII. Parking Aircraft.
Aircraft must be secured with tie downs with the control lock and the pitot cover in place and it must be chocked.

VIII Aircraft damage.
Pilots are responsible for prop damage, including flat tires from results of skidding tires while landing, destruction of the tail ring resulting from full stall landings and any superficial damage to aircraft, also see rental rules sheet.

IX. Fuel.
Fuel must be checked to insure that there is enough fuel for the flight. Pilot will fuel the plane after each flight. Pilot will be reimbursed for the actual cost of the fuel up to a maximum of $2.00 per gallon when purchasing fuel away from Fullerton airport. Fuel receipts are to be returned at the end of the flight for fuel reimbursements.

X. Payments:

  1. Any returned check is subject to a $ 25.00 service charge.
  2. All flights are paid in full upon return of the aircraft. Credit is not permitted.
  3. Payments may be made in advance. An account will be opened from which payments for your flights may be deducted. NO REFUNDS.
  4. To receive our discounted block rate, a minimum balance of $ 300.00 must be maintained on account at all times. If the account balance falls below $ 300.00, the current flight will be charged at the retail rate Monies placed on account for reduced block rates shall be flown off; NO CASH REFUNDS will be given. This deposit gives the club member the privilege of flying the aircraft at reduced rates, therefore this money is not refundable.

XI. Documents.
Each pilot must submit copies of all licenses, ratings, logbook copy of BFR, driver's license, and current medical certificate. Each pilot must submit a signed information sheet to be kept on file, and a signed acknowledgment form that he/she understands all the RULES, REGULATIONS and AGREEMENTS of Ray’s Flying Club. All pilots must have a currency checkout log sheet.

XII. Insurance & Liability.
All aircraft is insured for liability and hull damage. Each pilot is responsible for the aircraft while it is in his/her charge and must operate the aircraft within all FARs. In the event of any damage to the aircraft, the pilot shall be liable for the deductible charge on the insurance. The pilot is responsible for any damages, losses or expenses incurred including, but not limited to, the deductible, loss of use, transportation expense, communication expense, and any other loss or expense incurred by Rays Flying Club and not covered by insurance, if the accident is a result of a violation of the FARs, the regulations of the club, or pilot negligence. All pilots are encouraged to obtain renter insurance.
